What's Covered

Clear coverage. No fine print.

Most warranty complaints come from customers who didn't realize what was actually covered. So here's exactly what is β€” and isn't β€” included in every SecureVista warranty.

Covered Under Warranty
Backed by our 2-year workmanship guarantee
βœ“
Installation workmanship Any defect arising from how we installed the system β€” loose mounts, improper cable terminations, incorrect configurations, or wiring issues.
βœ“
Cable & connector failures If a cable we installed fails under normal use, we replace it at no cost β€” including the labor to run the new cable.
βœ“
Mounting hardware failures Brackets, screws, housings, and mounting plates installed by us are covered if they fail under normal conditions.
βœ“
Configuration & programming errors If your system stops functioning due to a configuration we set up, we diagnose and fix it at no charge.
βœ“
Manufacturer warranty management We file and manage all equipment warranty claims on your behalf β€” including shipping, RMA paperwork, and replacement coordination.
βœ“
Labor for covered equipment failures If equipment fails within its manufacturer warranty period, our labor to diagnose and swap it is covered.
βœ“
Post-repair verification After any warranty repair, we re-test the full system and confirm everything is functioning before we leave.
βœ“
Transferable to new owner If you sell the property, the remaining warranty transfers to the new owner at no cost.
Not Covered
Reasons warranty claims are sometimes declined
βœ•
Physical damage Cameras or equipment struck by vehicles, hail, falling limbs, or vandalism are not covered. Your homeowner's or commercial insurance handles those.
βœ•
Power surges & lightning strikes Equipment damaged by electrical surges, lightning, or brownouts is not covered. We recommend surge protectors for all installations.
βœ•
Third-party modifications If you or another contractor modifies or disassembles the system we installed, the warranty on affected components is void.
βœ•
Customer-supplied equipment Hardware you provide that we install carries labor-only coverage. We can't warrant equipment we didn't source.
βœ•
Water damage & flooding Cameras and equipment damaged by water intrusion (other than manufacturer defects in weatherproofing) are not covered.
βœ•
Normal wear items Consumables like camera lens cleaning supplies, hard drive wear after 3+ years, and batteries in wireless devices are not covered.
βœ•
Network & internet issues Problems caused by your home or business network, ISP outages, or router failures are outside warranty scope.
βœ•
Cosmetic wear Fading, discoloration, or scratches from normal outdoor exposure after installation are not covered.

Important

What voids your warranty.

We don't hide this in the fine print. Here are the specific situations where warranty coverage doesn't apply β€” so you know exactly what to avoid to keep your system protected.

!
Unauthorized modifications If you or another contractor reconfigures, disassembles, or modifies the system, the warranty on affected components is voided.
!
Physical damage from external causes Damage from vehicles, storms, tree limbs, vandalism, or accidents is not covered β€” that's what your property insurance is for.
!
Electrical surge damage Equipment damaged by power surges, lightning strikes, or electrical faults is not covered. We recommend whole-home surge protection.
!
Failure to pay balance If installation payment is not completed per the terms of your invoice, warranty coverage does not become active.
!
DIY repairs after installation If you attempt to repair or replace components yourself and cause additional damage, that damage is not covered.
!
Customer-supplied equipment Hardware you provide carries labor-only coverage. We cannot warranty equipment we did not source or specify.

Warranty FAQ

Questions we hear about coverage.

Have a question we haven't answered? Call us at (512) 577-5052 or visit our full FAQ page.

Your warranty start date is the date of installation. You can look it up anytime using our online warranty checker above, or call our support line with your address and we'll pull your records.

We also send reminder emails 90 days before your workmanship warranty expires, so you have time to decide whether to extend coverage with a maintenance plan.

Workmanship warranty covers our labor and installation quality β€” the way we mounted cameras, ran cables, configured your system. That's our coverage, lasting 2 years on standard installs (3 years on enterprise).

Equipment warranty is the manufacturer's coverage on the hardware itself β€” cameras, NVRs, access control panels, intercoms. That runs 1–5 years depending on brand, and we manage the entire claims process for you.

Both apply simultaneously. If a camera fails, the equipment warranty covers the replacement hardware and our workmanship warranty covers the labor to install it.

No. There are no per-visit fees, diagnostic fees, or dispatch charges for issues covered under warranty. If the problem is covered, the visit and labor are free.

The only exception is if we arrive on-site and discover the issue is not covered under warranty (physical damage, power surge, third-party modification, etc.). In that case, we'll explain the situation and quote you for the repair before doing any work.

Our workmanship warranty only applies to systems we installed. However, if you acquired a system secondhand or through a property purchase and want us to service it, we can do that on a standard service call basis β€” no workmanship warranty attached.

If you purchased the property from a SecureVista customer, the remaining warranty may have been transferred to you. Call us with the property address and we'll check our records.

Yes, if the drive fails within its manufacturer warranty period (typically 3 years for Seagate and WD drives we install). We handle the RMA with the drive manufacturer and install the replacement at no labor cost.

After the manufacturer warranty on the drive expires, hard drive replacement is a billable service call β€” though maintenance plan customers get priority scheduling and included labor.

Yes β€” our warranty is fully transferable to the new owner at no cost. Just call us with the new owner's name and contact information and we'll update our records.

This is actually a nice selling point: a professionally-installed security system with active warranty coverage transfers a real, tangible benefit to the buyer. We're happy to provide written documentation for your real estate agent if needed.

If a manufacturer we use ever discontinues operations or stops supporting a product line, we honor our workmanship warranty regardless β€” including sourcing compatible replacement hardware at our cost within the warranty period.

This is one of the reasons we work with multiple manufacturers (Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Reolink, Ubiquiti) β€” so we always have replacement options even if a specific brand has issues.
